Join us on this 11-day tour as we photograph and explore the best of Croatia. You’ll return with a varied portfolio of travel shots as well as some incredible memories of the Adriatic coast and the historical region of Dalmatia.


We’ll discover Dubrovnik, the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’, with its ancient streets and beautifully preserved city walls. We’ll chase light from sunrise to sunset on Croatia’s sunniest island, Hvar, renowned for its natural beauty, lavender fields and spectacular scenery. We’ll try creative long exposures and capture waterfalls and stunning reflections at Plitvice National Park, the ‘lake district’ of Croatia. Moving on to the charming old town of Rovinj on the Istrian Peninsula you’ll be able to explore the Roman amphitheatre at Pula, get close ups of stunning architectural details and capture the colour and bustle of life in the enchanting cobbled streets.

Contrast this with some seascapes in the coastal resorts before a final stay inland in the thriving city of Zagreb where we’ll capture medieval to Austro-Hungarian architecture, café culture, trams, markets and rooftop views over lively squares. This tour is an all-encompassing cultural journey.

Difficulty level

This tour involves moderate walking on hiking trails and within the cities. There may be a limited amount of uphill walking. comfortable walking shoes and a sandals for hot weather are advised.


Arrive in Dubrovnik and transfer to the hotel. The photography adventure begins with a chance to explore the old city and an evening photography shoot before we gather for our welcome dinner.

Day 1

Arrive in Dubrovnik

Day 2 


Spend the day discovering all that Dubrovnik has to offer. Explore the old city with its narrow streets, street performers, diverse architecture, and well-preserved medieval walls. You’ll have some free time to do some sightseeing in the afternoon before meeting up for a late afternoon shoot. The medieval walls offer spectacular views of the city, the sea, islands and mountains and we’ll use this vantage point to make the most of the light for some creative long exposures and blue hour shots.

Day 3 

Dubrovnik to Hvar island

Early risers will have the opportunity to capture sunrise over the Adriatic coast from a city vantage point before we depart for the island of Hvar. We’ll take the scenic route along coast with many photo stops along the way. A short ferry ride brings us to the sunny island of Hvar where we’ll spend the afternoon and evening wandering through the charming town of Hvar.

Day 4

Hvar island

We begin the day with a panoramic sunrise shoot before setting off for the western part of the island. Today we’ll photograph some of the most scenic places on the island, including lush lavender fields and traditional Croatian villages. You’ll have some free time to explore, sunbathe and swim before meeting late afternoon to try some creative seascapes and experiment with long exposures.

Day 5

Split and Plitvice Lakes NP

After breakfast and another chance to capture early light in the old town, we leave Hvar and travel to Plitvice Lakes National Park. We’ll take the ferry to Split where we’ll have time for a spot of sightseeing, photography and lunch before we continue to our destination. We arrive in time for a late afternoon walk in the national park to capture stunning lakes and waterfalls.

We’ll have a full day to photograph the lakes, waterfalls and caves in this incredible UNESCO world heritage site. Here you’ll have the opportunity to try different photography techniques using tripods and long exposures as well as work on composition. Enjoy free time exploring the lakes alone before meeting late afternoon to make the most of the play of golden light and reflections in the water.

Day 7 

Istria and Rovinj

After an optional sunrise shoot at the lakes and a hearty breakfast, we travel onwards to the Istrian coast. We’ll make some scenic stops on the way and arrive in beautiful Rovinj in time for a sunset shoot in the old town.

Day 8 

Hilltop towns and Rovinj

Having made the most of early morning light in Rovinj, we’ll drive out to visit some of the many charming Istrian hilltop towns making the most of our vantage point to capture stunning panoramas. We’ll return for an evening shoot in Rovinj and to soak up the atmosphere of its bustling harbour, winding narrow streets and lively squares.

Day 9

Istria to Zagreb

After some early morning photography and free time to shop or explore, we leave Rovinj for the city of Zagreb in time for a late afternoon wander to explore and capture some street scenes and city architecture.

Day 10

Zagreb and Zagorje

We’ll spend time getting to know this fascinating city, which combines the best of eastern and western culture and architecture. We may take a short trip to a nearby traditional village to capture some contrasting rural scenes, white stone walled buildings with red rooftops and agricultural landscapes. Returning to the city later, we’ll spend the evening honing our cityscape photography as well as capturing life in the streets of Zagreb.

Day 11

Departure from Zagreb 

Depart Zagreb and transfer to airport.

Included: Accommodation (10 nights) double/twin rooms sharing (singles available upon request), all meals (three per day), airport transfers and all transportation during the tour, photography tuition, entrance fees and all local taxes.
