BROWN BEAR PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Spend 4 days photographing the brown bears of Slovenia
Join us on an incredible 4-day brown bear photography tour in the heart of the forests of Notranjska, southern Slovenia. Here you’ll find pristine forests, beautiful karst valleys, limestone caves, Europe’s largest ‘disappearing’ lake and an abundance of wildlife. Besides an impressive population of more than 400 brown bears, the Notranjska region is also home to lynxes, wolves, jackals and ural owls.
During the tour you’ll be able to safely photograph brown bears from specially designed photo hides, follow animal tracks, visit an abandoned bear den, check trail cameras for wildlife, shoot the diverse landscapes and nature of the Notranjska region and have a good of chance of spotting ural owls.

This workshop involves moderate walking on hiking trails. There may be a limited amount of uphill walking. Sturdy hiking boots are advised.
Arrive at the guest house in the morning. Head out for a short hike to a river close by, searching for otters and checking trail cameras. The afternoon will be dedicated to bear watching and photography from the photo hides.
After an early breakfast we’ll search for ural owls in the nearby forests. We’ll visit Rakov Škocjan, an impressive karst valley and cave system. The afternoon/early evening is reserved for brown bear photography again.
In the morning we’ll try to spot more rural owls and learn more about the brown bears when we visit an abandoned bear den. In the afternoon we’ll spend more time at the photo hides and hope for the brown bears to make another appearance.
After breakfast we’ll share a final photography session together, which will either be searching for wildlife or landscape photography. Enjoy a farewell lunch at the guest house, before transferring to the airport.
Included: Accommodation in traditional guest house (4 nights) double/twin rooms sharing (singles available upon request), half board, airport transfers and all transportation during the workshop, expert guiding (nature specialist), photography tuition, entrance fees, hide permits and all local taxes.
This tour is run in conjunction with SlovenianBears.com. The bear photo hides are situated in carefully selected locations across the forests of the Notranjska Region. We do our best to prepare good spots to photograph wild animals but participants must be aware that animal activity can be weather dependent and is beyond our control. Whilst we cannot guarantee bear sightings, the bear hides are located in the central bear habitat, where the local population is extremely dense, to give us our best chance of photographing the bears.
